It is said that:
80% to 90% of your engine wear happens
when you start your vehicle.
It's true, 80 to 90 percent of your engine's life is consumed by cold and dry start ups. Engines usually shut down hot, at which point the oil is thin and drips away from the bearing and other "friction intense" areas. Gradually the oil cools, thickens and becomes difficult to pump. When starting an engine, the lubrication process involves filling all oil galleys, filling the filter, pressurizing the rod, main and cam bearing as well as the entire valve train (filling the lifters and lubricating the cam lobe and rocker arms). Unfortunately, your engine is running while this lubricating process and is meshing metal against metal, hence massive engine wear takes place.
Studies have been done by the Society of Automotive Enginners concerning engine wear and engine failures due to the lack of oil and oil pressure during cold start. (S.A.E. Technical Papers # 780370, 3790729, #790751, #821204, #821206 and #821247). From these, and other S.A.E. studies, it has been determined that up to 80% of entire engine wear occurs during cold start ups. A recent test by McDonnel Douglas of Long Beach indicated that up to 90% of all engine wear takes place during the "oil starvation' period of the cold start (New York Times Syndicated Release 5-6-85).
The only oil additive proven to eliminate damage and wear at a dry or cold start is Molybdenum Disulfide and only when using a 1% dispersion of fine micronized particles of Molybdenum utilizing a colloïdal formula for suspension in motor oils and gear lubes, as stated in SAE PUBLISHED PAPERS.
With FASTART INTEGRATING LUBRICANTS "Moly Oil FORMULA TWO and FORMULA FOUR" the lubrication is there BEFORE YOU START YOUR ENGINE!
